Artemis Moon Goddess

Artemis is the Greek goddess of the moon and of the hunt, daughter of Zeus and Leto and twin sister of Apollo, and one of the three virgin goddesses of the Greek pantheon alongside Hestia and Athena. She was honored in most Greek cities as a secondary deity but held first rank in Asia Minor, where the great temple raised for her at Ephesus became one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

At Ephesus she was received chiefly as a goddess of fertility and identified with Cybele, the mother goddess of the eastern lands, while on the Greek mainland she appears as the huntress with her bow and arrows.

Her correspondences run through the whole system: the bow that stands for the crescent moon and for an exquisitely tuned inner self-esteem, the sacred candle colors silver and white, the planet Moon, the day Monday, the months of March and April, and sacred animals that include the deer and stag, the bear, geese, wild dogs, fish, goats and bees.
