Djinn's Reiki was founded by Alec and Debbie Summers in 2009 and published through Greywolf Publications as one of the four parts of Elemental Kings' Reiki, the others being Nixsa's Reiki, Paralda's Reiki and Ghob's Reiki.
Djinn is the king of the salamanders, the fire spirits, known by many names including Jin, Ginn, Jinn, Jan, Genie and the Greek Notus, and the manual pictures him as a man of twenty or thirty with flowing golden hair and clothes the colour of the summer sun, forceful, terrifying and magnificent, though also gentle and comforting.
Salamanders are described as among the hardest elementals to work with, because fire is dangerous and easily gets out of control, and they are found wherever there is fire, lightning, fireworks, explosions or candle light.
They are the spirits of creative and romantic passion alike, and the manual says they enjoy inspiring artists and writers, playing the muse and bringing the flash of brilliance a person needs.
The manual also carries the story of Wayland the Smith, the elvish jewellery-smith of northern legend who now lives by the white horse at Uffington, and offers him as a symbol of courage and inspiration to draw on when you feel low.
A table of correspondences gathers the rest: Archangel Michael, the direction south, the signs Aries, Leo and Sagittarius, and gemstones including amber, diamond, ruby, carnelian and citrine.
What this attunement is intended to support:
- It is traditionally used to support courage, and the strength and bravery to carry you through a difficult stretch.
- It connects you to creative fire, which the manual associates with inspiration for artists, writers and visionaries.
- It offers insight when a situation needs to be seen more clearly, along with optimism for getting through it.
- It works with passion in both its creative and romantic senses, an element the manual calls powerful and worth respecting.
- It supplies a full table of correspondences so the element of fire can be worked with deliberately.
- It forms one quarter of the Elemental Kings' Reiki structure, so it can be taken as part of a complete elemental set.
What you receive:
- The Djinn's Reiki manual, covering the mythology of Djinn, the salamanders, Wayland the Smith and the fire correspondences.
- The Djinn's Reiki attunement in Alec and Debbie Summers' lineage.
- Hands-on and distant attunement procedures, along with the founders' aftercare guidance.
Who this is for:
- Reiki Masters, which the manual states is the requirement for this attunement, and adults over eighteen.
- Practitioners working through the elements who want the fire king specifically.
- Artists, writers and anyone whose work needs a spark and the nerve to follow it.
How it is used:
Distant attunements follow the same shape as the hands-on version, with the recipient visualised, a proxy such as a soft toy used if it helps, and the Reiki distance symbol employed to carry the energy; the recipient then calls the energy forth when they are ready. Afterwards, ask the person to drink plenty of fluids for a few days, to ground themselves, and to expect a cleansing process of around twenty-one days as they become accustomed to the energy. As with all elemental fire work, the manual's advice is to respect the element rather than push it.
