Guilt Release Empowerment

The Guilt Release Empowerment is a practitioner's manual published by Elemental Reiki in November 2009. Its argument is more thoughtful than the title suggests. Guilt, the manual says, is not simply a negative emotion to be erased: it is conscience, and it tells you when you have done something you should not have done, so genuine guilt that you legitimately deserve can be a tool for personal and spiritual growth.

The difficulty is what happens when it is not listened to. Repressed guilt gets stuck in the physical, emotional and energetic bodies, creating blockages and trouble later on, and the same behaviour continues, generating new guilt that compounds the old until it builds into denial that makes change hard. The stated objective of the empowerment is therefore not to wipe guilt away without acknowledging what caused it, but to forgive yourself for the behaviour and then change the behaviour.
