Distance healing for Plymouth's charming community.
Historic downtown with wellness-minded residents.
Winter here means ice sculptures ringing Kellogg Park, and summer means Hines Park along the Rouge River. The ordinary weeks in between still need some steadying. Remote Reiki involves no travel at all, and blends are mixed in Michigan and posted when you want something to keep on the shelf.
Kellogg Park is the town square Plymouth is built around, hosting summer concerts and, in winter, the ice-carving festival that fills the surrounding blocks with sculpture and live music. The downtown is walkable in the literal sense, a compact grid of storefronts that stayed independent of the surrounding Plymouth Township.
The Penn Theatre has run as a single-screen cinema since 1941, still showing second-run, independent and classic films rather than dividing into multiple houses. A few streets away, the Plymouth Historical Museum documents the industrial side of the same town.
That industry produced something unexpectedly famous. The Plymouth Iron Windmill Company started making Clarence Hamilton's compressed-air BB gun here after 1886, when company president Lewis Cass Hough tried one and said, 'Boy, that's a daisy!' The name stuck to the product, and the Daisy air rifle was born in Plymouth. About seventy percent of occupied housing units are owner-occupied, and a little over sixty percent of the housing stock is detached single-family.
Civic life here is unusually well organized for a city of under nine thousand people. The Plymouth Community Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Plymouth both date to 1924, and a second Rotary club, Plymouth A.M., meets at PARC downtown. Mayflower-Lt. Gamble VFW Post 6695 on South Mill Street covers Plymouth and Canton together, and Passage-Gayde American Legion Post 391 serves the city as well. Historic Main Street runs through the middle of it, which is why so much of the calendar happens within a few blocks of Kellogg Park rather than spread across a township grid.
