Distance Reiki and personalized flower essence blends arrive in Honesdale by mail, offered with steady care to a canal town in the Pocono uplands.
A Wayne County seat where a canal terminus and early railroad history meet river valley country, suiting grounded, historically-minded, outdoor routines.
The Poconos and the Delaware valley take up most of the surrounding country and the nearest cities are well over an hour off. A session at home closes that distance. Flower essence blends are mixed in Michigan and travel to you by post.
Honesdale exists because of coal and water. In 1823 the Pennsylvania legislature authorized the Delaware and Hudson Canal Company to cut a canal from the mouth of the Lackawaxen to what became Honesdale, and a railroad from the coal beds at Carbondale down to the canal head. To work that railroad, Horatio Allen went to England in 1828 and ordered four locomotives, and one of them, the Stourbridge Lion, built by Foster, Rastrick and Company of Stourbridge, reached Honesdale in July 1829. On August 8, 1829 it ran between Honesdale and Seely's Mills, the first locomotive to run on a railway in America. About three miles of wooden track had been laid, crossing the Lackawaxen on a trestle some thirty feet high; the Lion proved too heavy for it and ended its days as a stationary boiler.
